A NOTE FROM STEPHANIE:

I don’t expect you to be perfectly comfortable in front of my camera. I mean, who knows exactly what to do with their hands anyway? My job is more than just capturing pretty pictures. I am also your Personal Photo Shoot Guide, here to walk you through the ins & outs of your session from booking to gallery delivery to product and print ordering. My goal is for you to walk away from our shoot saying, “Wow, that was WAY easier than I thought it’d be!”

PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY

I take more of a lifestyle approach to portrait sessions and include a combination of photojournalism and fine art portraiture. I love shooting everything including elopements, families, engagements, anniversary celebrations, birthday celebrations, and individual portrait sessions (professional headshots, boudoir, fantasy just-for-fun, etc). Past clients have described my style as vibrant, cinematic, and emotional but I’ve also been told I’m a ‘ninja’ when it comes to getting unexpected perspectives.

PORTRAIT FAQs

  • The session fee includes a pre-shoot consultation and planning via email or over the phone, 90 minutes of shooting at the location of your choice, and at least 30 professionally edited images delivered via private online gallery. You’ll be able to order prints and photo products directly from my professional lab via your private gallery (the same lab I use for all my personal prints) and you are free to share the gallery with your friends and family as well.

  • I do not include hair and makeup as part of my session fee but I am more than happy to refer to you to professional hair and makeup artists if you’re prefer. One of the reasons I do not include it is because I do NOT want to give you the impression that you must have a professional photo shoot with a professional hair and makeup stylist in order to feel confident, and camera-ready. That being said, if we’re going for a highly conceptualized, styled shoot (either boudoir or portrait) I have some wonderful HMU artists to recommend to you.

  • Most sessions are done in your home or at an outdoor location we select together in advance. I love shooting in nature. Some clients also like to change it up for portrait sessions and prefer a hotel or Airbnb. For hotels or Airbnbs, additional fees may apply.

  • I do basic editing on all photos for color correction, temperature, and other technical things like that. My general rule with blemishes is, if it won’t be there two weeks after our session then I’ll go ahead and remove it. But I don’t do a bunch of skin filters and slimming tricks in Photoshop. I prefer to highlight your best assets during our shoot through lighting and flattering poses instead.

  • Only if you choose to share them! I do also share my work here on my website and on my Instagram account, unless you specifically ask me not to. I’m proud of the work we create and love to shout it from the rooftops but I’m happy to share only what you’re comfortable with, including anonymous shots (no face showing).

  • I am based in the San Francisco Bay Area but will happily shoot anywhere (yes, I have a valid passport for international shoots too!). Travel fees apply for locations outside of SF, Marin County, and the East Bay.

  • Absolutely! I’m a big animal lover and will accommodate the furriest members of your family if you’d like to include them in our sessionl

COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Whether you’re an individual entrepreneur, a local startup, or a nationwide retailer, my approach to commercial photography is centered around building a relationship between your brand and your clients. My aim is to tell the story of your product or service in a way that establishes a connection, builds trust, and ultimately, garners loyalty. I have experience working with both product- and service-based businesses and especially love working with badass female entrepreneurs. COMMERCIAL PHOTO FAQs

  • Of course! I’ve been an entrepreneur for over a decade and I’ve worked with many, many other entrepreneurs over the years. My branding sessions begin with an in-depth questionnaire to nail down all the specifics of your brand, not just the colors. We go into who your ideal client is, what problems your products or services solve for them, and how you’d like them to feel when they view your marketing content, among other things. I guide you through every step of the process to ensure our final photos reflect your brand’s values and message.

  • Yep! The final photos from your session are yours to use for whatever business needs you have. Our session contract includes a license for commercial use that allows you to do just about anything with your photos except resell them for a profit.

  • The session fee includes a pre-shoot consultation where we’ll meet in person (or on zoom) to get familiar with each other and discuss your vision/ideas for the shoot. We’ll then plan out location, mood, and outfit details using your answers in the questionnaire and inspo boards on Pinterest. Afterwards, you’ll receive the final, fully edited photos delivered through a private online gallery. Delivery time varies depending on the length of the shoot but your final photos are typically ready approx. 2-4 weeks after our shoot.

  • I do not include hair and makeup as part of my session fee but I am more than happy to refer to you to professional hair and makeup artists if you’re prefer.

  • We will choose a location that reflects the goals of the shoot based on your questionnaire. Most branding sessions are done either at an outdoor location or an Airbnb. If you do choose an Airbnb or hotel, the rental fees are in addition to my shooting fee.

  • I do basic editing on all photos for color correction, temperature, and other technical things like that. My general rule with blemishes is, if it won’t be there two weeks after our session then I’ll go ahead and remove it. But I don’t do a bunch of skin filters and slimming tricks in Photoshop. I prefer to highlight your best assets through lighting and posing instead.

  • It’s up to you! We can capture everything from new headshots and behind-the-scenes process photos to product photography and your workspace. These are the details we work out in your questionnaire and there’s even space for you to request specific shots as well.

1:1 MENTORSHIP

I’ve been exploring the art of photography for nearly 30 years now. I’ve shot 35mm and medium format film as well as digital, experimented in the darkroom in addition to Lightroom, and have successfully approached my business in my own differentiated way that works for me, even if it goes against all those “shoulds” the industry says are necessary. I love sharing the results of my trial-and-error process while encouraging others to explore their creativity and embrace both their inner artist and inner business boss. Whether you’re looking for constructive criticism on your photos or feedback on a marketing idea, I’m here to help you get in touch with your own authority and guide you towards what’s right for YOU. If that sounds like someone you want to work with, let’s chat. I’m open to the invitation.
